WOMEN'S HEALTH MATTERS
Updated: Oct 17

This month, we are taking time to highlight the importance of breast health, regular screening, knowing your own body, and understanding the changes that occur throughout a woman's life—especially as African American women. We also want to acknowledge the importance of menopause awareness, recognizing that this natural stage of life can bring physical, emotional, and hormonal changes that deserve attention, understanding, and care.
Breast cancer can affect women of all ages, and Black women are more likely to die from breast cancer than White women. Black women are also more likely to be diagnosed at a younger age, making awareness, knowing your family history, recognizing changes, and talking with your healthcare provider especially important.
Menopause is another important aspect of women's health that deserves open and honest conversations. Every woman's experience is different, and symptoms can affect daily life, emotional well-being, and overall health. We encourage women to learn about the changes associated with menopause, ask questions, and seek guidance from their healthcare providers to better understand and manage this stage of life.
Below, you'll find helpful articles, educational resources, and videos featuring breast cancer survivors and others sharing their experiences. We hope these stories and resources encourage you to become informed, have important conversations, and take the next step in caring for your health.
Don't put it off. Make your health a priority.
Please remember: These resources are for education and awareness and are not a substitute for personalized medical advice. Talk with your healthcare provider about the breast cancer screening schedule that's right for you, as well as any questions or concerns you may have about menopause and your overall health.
Our church stands with you, supports you, and encourages you to take care of the body God has entrusted to you. Let us continue to support one another through every season of life with knowledge, compassion, faith, and love.
